Downtown area:
- Tue 18 Oct: Woman believes she saw Nancy in a newscast of an event in Los Angeles on Monday night. Believes it was Chanel 2 or 7 (CBS or ABC); and the event was either about the homeless or bicycles. We contacted the TV stations. Last night a person at reported that they did not believe they kept the video from that day. Matt will follow up again today. The other station found a video from Sunday on CicLAvia downtown event and nice enough to post it for us. After careful review by our team, they saw no one in the background that looked like Nancy.
- Tue 18 Oct: Posted on this blog someone believes they saw her under the overpass on Manchester between Broadway and Figueroa.
- Tue 18 Oct: A woman called in who believes she saw Nancy
- Wed 19 Oct: A sighting was reported in the LACMA area on Genesee. A team followed up handing out flyers all along Genesee, including local business and a health clinic. No further information was gathered.
- Tue 18 Oct: A man called in who believes he saw her at a 99 Cent store, either the one on Fairfax and 6th or the other one about on Wilshire and Fairfax. We are going to see if we can review the video from these stores Wednesday.
- Tue 18 Oct: A woman called and reported that she noticed a woman who was in the back of a car for over an hour in the Whole Foods parking lot at about 1:30 Tuesday. Believe the hair looked the same, did not see the shirt she was wearing.
- Tue 18 Oct: A woman called and believes she saw Nancy in the McDonalds just East of the museum on Wilshire at 6;30 AM ordering a hot cup of water and two sugars. (I have to be skeptical of this since Nancy does not typically drink anything like that and would have a very hard time articulating it. She would be much more likely to ask for a root beer. On the other hand, she has no means of paying for anything, so I am not willing to throw out any such suggestion altogether).
- Tue 18 Oct: When handing out flyers, several people believed, with differing levels of certainty, that they saw her in the area around Rodeo and La Brea Blvds. The first report we received was from a man working next to Jim Gilliam Park who was pretty certain he saw her "walking back and forth down an alley, and then going north" at 6:00 AM or so Tuesday. We were talking to him at about 11:00. We followed this up with some canvassing of the neighborhood and 3 or 4 other people said "Yeah, I think I may have seen her". Jim Gilliam park has a set of tennis courts. It is possible that Baldwin Hills attracted Nancy because it is a hill that she may think was Palos Verdes; and it is at the southern terminus of Redondo St. And finally, Kenneth Hahn State Park is right there and it has a nice serene pond or lake that may remind Nancy of our local park (Polliwog) which is one of her favorite places to go. (That is a lot of assumptions, but it is at least a thread that can be pieced together).
