- We want to go to businesses close around LACMA for videos.
- A few teams for schools
- Calling organizations (here or remote, we'll come up with a plan)
- Instead of our traditional "canvassing", it might be better to look again at some of the parks - paying particular attention to areas most people would not go (bushy areas, seemingly inaccessible areas)

A little more on tomorrow (Thursday)

I'm on the west side and won't be at the morning meeting, please let me know how I can help on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI'm now expecting to get some work on the feature script in tomorrow. I'll check in when I know my schedule better.
ReplyDeleteFYI - for Pan Pacific Park and La Brea Tar Pits, those parks (including bushes) were searched thoroughly today/Wednesday.
Some ideas for your consideration from a friend who lived in the LACMA area:
ReplyDelete1) There's a large indoor parking lot behind Callender's Grill that has a lot of nooks and crannies to hide in
2) There are shops by the CVS/Whole Foods near Fairfax and Beverly where a lot of homeless walk by that might make it harder for someone to notice Nancy
3) There's a parking lot behind Canter's (but it's across Fairfax)
4) The Grove has tons of large parking lots
She thought that the Park La Brea security guards would allow us to drive through and search the bushes. I don't know if that's already been covered.
She mentioned the Pan Pacific Park and La Brea Tar Pits area, so I'm glad those were thoroughly searched today.
Great ideas. The Park La Brea security guards are aware of the situation and have flyers in their kiosks as well. We'll follow up on those other ideas. Thanks.
DeleteI have a friend in PLB and they also posted it in the Activity Center where many residents visit each day and made their LIFE office aware. I've asked them if the flyer can be emailed to residents as well - fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheri. I think we're now covered at PLB. Good work.
DeleteOther ideas (not sure if this has been done yet):
ReplyDelete1) There are a bunch of food trucks that congregate on Wilshire across from LACMA - if people are going by there today, give them flyers to post up on their windows. Since they are mobile, this can spread the word to other neighborhoods. Also, Nancy may have tried to get food from them since they may give away food at the end of the day.
2) A lot of food trucks re-stock/prep at Slauson Commissary (750 E. Slauson Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90011). Maybe someone should go there and post up flyers, talk to people. I can try calling them.
I am also going to try calling the LA mobile food vendors association today and see if they have a listserv or a way to email blast Nancy's poster out to their vendors/food trucks.
Does Nancy like children? The Zimmer children's museum is right near LACMA. Wonder if she could have tried going there since its less intimidating?! I can call and ask if they have seen her or would be willing to post up flyer if you think that should be targeted.
I am a MB mom with an 8 month old baby (who naps for 2 hours this morning) and elementary school child that I have to pick up at 2:30, but I want to try and help. Please let me know if there are any phone calls or anything (should I call the shelters that still needed targeting?) I can do from home or near the south bay today. My email is gomezan@gmail.com. My # is 415-710-8460.
I posted something on the LA mobile food vendors association Facebook page and also got in touch with Patrick (@ same org) who manages all of the food trucks on wilshire blvd. He says he "met with some of your search party yesterday and introduced them via email to the miracle mile chamber of commerce, the miracle mile residents association and council office district 4. I also notified every food truck on Southern California and forwarded them your flyer."
DeleteAndrea, sorry we couldn't get to you sooner. Thank you for notifying the food trucks. Perhaps they will see something in their various assignments.
