- Throughout the day we will have tasks for the group that is centered at 3rd and Farifax including:
- Following up with some store owners and building managers that have promised us access to their video (we would like them to provide as much footage as possible, starting Friday 10/21 dusk backwards ...And we can either send someone to watch that, or pull the information off their system and watch it remotely).
- Walking along commercial areas there and further out than we got yesterday, distributing flyers and looking for Nancy
- Visiting local food distribution spots to see if she is there or if someone there has seen her
- Visiting local churches
- Responding to tips or things to check out in the area as they come up during the day
3. Physically visiting the "end of the line" areas of the buses that go by LACMA to investigate what someone like Nancy might do and then react appropriately (pushing out flyers to any homeless encampments, on poles etc. Looking for good video camera positions, etc.)
4. Continuing to try to improve out outreach to and the subsequent involvement in our search for Nancy with official agencies that are not specifically assigned this case (LAPD, LASD, MTA, etc.)
We will be down in the 3rd and Fairfax area walking, putting up more flyers, etc. We can talk to business owners or do anything else you would need. There are four of us in the group and we are driving down now. Just let us know!
ReplyDeleteAs far as #3 goes, looking at the map of LA bus routes, there seem to be scattered transit/transfer/customer centers spread through the system where several bus lines cross. It might be worthwhile to check at any that the routes near LACMA go through (on the way to the end of the route), as those seem like good candidates for places that a person with dementia might get "stuck".
ReplyDeleteAs far as the MTA, check the DASH routes. There used to be one from Farmers Market to Cedars Sinai that you could ride for free. Farmers Market has a plethora of free food, drink and places to sit out of the elements.
ReplyDeleteJust spoke to a friend who works at the Federal Transport Authority. He suggested calling the Metro Police to see if they could send out a blast message across all lines.
ReplyDeleteNote - The Metro Police is the L.A. Sheriff Dept Transit Services.
