I heard from the police today that they have identified a skull and some ribs as positively matching Nancy's DNA. Her remains were found in a remote area around Los Angeles.
My heart goes out to you and your family. I lost my mom a handful of times because she wandered away from home. She passed away last year from dementia. I was hoping for a positive outcome, but the only positive thing is that you can finally have closure. I hope the holidays find you with peace and togetherness with family and ones nearby
so sorry for you loss.. but the "silver lining" is that this inspired the LA Police to start "LA Found" going forward https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-la-found-bracelet-20180905-story.html
I am so sorry about this and have been since I heard this story 2 years ago. When my sister with frontotemporal degeneration (FTD with Primary Progressive Aphasia, affecting incoming and outgoing communication) wandered from the nursing home (she'd take off the wanderguard in about 2 minutes) in the North Hollywood area, I contacted Kirk Moody, he graciously and generously gave me advice on how to go about helping people find her.
Fortunately, it was only 15 minutes before an alert Good Samaritan saw her and called the Burbank police and she was taken to a hospital in the northern part of the Valley. She was missing from us for 2 hours before the police verified she was at the hospital, so I can't imagine the pain and suffering Nancy and Nancy's family and friends went through for 2 years. Heartbreaking outcome for everyone involved.
Thank you all for the tireless volunteers and for coming up with LA FOUND and may it inspire the rest of the world to follow LA's lead on this. Love to all of you.
My deepest condolences

ReplyDeleteSo very sorry for this outcome. Nancy is no longer suffering and Kirk will have some closure, but it is still a sad, sad ending.
ReplyDeleteOh Kirk, I'm so, so sorry. My sympathy and love to you and Nancy's family.
