Megan Barnes continues to help us keep Nancy's story alive:
Daily Breeze Aritcle by Megan Barnes
The Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) had a Webinair today about patient disclosure and privacy rules. They specifically had a couple of charts on Nancy (with her picture), using that as an example of when it is OK to release (selected) patient information.
Nancy's story does seem to be having an impact.

Another round of calls, emails, BOLOH Task Force progress
We are (again) calling Nursing Homes (Skilled Nursing Facilities). We called most of them in the Southern CA area in January, so it seems appropriate to revisit this. Many thanks to the callers for performing this chore. If you would like to get in on the action, please let us knows by sending an email to NancyIsMissing@gmail.com.
We also have a volunteer, Neil, from Australia who has offered to do emailing, so I gave him the list of email addresses that we have. Although these primarily go to administrators, it never hurts to continue to try and reach as many people as possible.
I am also trying to run an ad in Philippine-oriented newspapers in the LA area, but so far, my efforts to contact the 3 papers have not resulted in replies. If anyone happens to have any familiarity with this, and would like to help, please let me know.
The Bringing Our Loved Ones Home Task Force has produced a draft final report that looks very good. It is quite impressive how all of these people were able to come together and produce a set of solid recommendations. Every member of the Task Force was truly dedicated to the task of making the process much better. Kudos especially to Adria Navarro and Richard Franco for being able to "herd the cats."
Once the report is available on-line, I will share it here.

PLEASE keep looking for Nancy in residential care faciliites! Woman Missing for 42 years, found in residential care facility....
A 27 Oct 2017 article in the Washington Post by Kyle Swenson (link below) underlines the problems with not having information about who is in residential care facilities.
And it increases our belief that Nancy is actually in a local facility!
And this belief is further strengthened by a recent, anecdotal report from law enforcement official that a missing person was recently identified here in Los Angeles when his body was sent to the morgue from a residential care facility and he was actually ON the missing persons list!

From the article:
"She suffers from dementia. The details of the last 42 years have been blotted out by her condition. “We really don’t know the circumstances of why or how she disappeared. She had psychiatric problems leading up to that point,” the detective said.
Medical records for Flora Harris indicated she had previously spent time in a nursing home in New Hampshire and Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Her medical records stretched back 30 years, then stopped. There does not appear to be anything else throwing light on Stevens’s lost years."
And another interesting fact from the article:
"But as Esquire reported last year, by January 2016 there were still 21,894 active cases of missing women on the books..."

Supervisor Janice Hahn is Staying Involved and Committed, KCET Program Nov 7
Nancy's parents and I met with LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn again this week, and she is clearly remaining involved in the search and committed to helping us find Nancy. Not to mention committed to her sponsored Bringing Our Loved Ones Home Task Force. Supervisor Hahn recently addressed the Manhattan Beach City Council. I found out when Councilman Richard Montgomery sent us an email with this picture attached from their meeting:
The Public Television segment on the search for Nancy is now scheduled for Nov. 7.

Once it has aired, it should be available to watch on-line.
